Feel free to talk/discuss/post anything about Japanese music/songs/lyrics here. I am going to start this thread with Zard. They are the one who got me started into Japanese songs since 1994. Don't you know that Zard is actually a group ? The cover of their albums always have only the pictures of Izumi Sakai (vocalist) but they are actually a group.

Zard consists of :

Izumi Sakai (vocalist, lyricist), Fumito Machida (guitar), Hiroyasu Hoshi (bass), Kimitaka Ikezawa (keyboard), Kohsuke Michikura (drums)

The first song that got me started was Goodbye My Loneliness
It's their first début single in 1991. I heard the single spent several weeks on the charts and soon ZARD followed this shocking success with their first album "Good-bye My Loneliness"

Another big hit by Zard that has become my all-time Zard favorite. I remember listening to this everyday when driving in the snow near Chicago when I used to live there.

Okay... continuing on with Zard.

What I really like and admire about Zard is that if you pick any 10 random songs from their 15 albums since 1991 to present. You will not find any bad songs. Mostly likely you will come up with 10 nice songs and there's no questions about it.

Out of the 37 single releases, almost every single one of them had been in the Top 10 Japan's Oricon Chart, and a majority of them made it to the number #1 or #2 spots and lasted for weeks.

Zard also wrote lyrics for other artists including: Theresa Teng, Deen, Barbier and Field of View.

Here's another hit single by Zard. The song is called BOY

Here's my most favorite song by Zard... Kokoro wo Hiraite. Awesome lyrics, very charming song and light.

I can listen to this song a thousand times and I will not get bored at all. It's a great song from the beginning to end. From the beginning light drum sound and the throughout lyrics in the song, and overall tones just makes it one piece of unforgettable song.

This song also went all the way to #1 in Japan's Orion Chart and stay on the chart for 15 straight weeks. Many fans also show a lot of admiration for this particular song.
