Hi guys!!! It is me again! I am finally going to Indo (already got ticket so.. for definite, I am going to Indo) for sure. Of course, it will be short 10days journey, but I am so excited to be in Jarkarta, W. sumatra and Bali (hopefully)

Would you recommend me good tourist stuff that I can do in Jarkata? I would be with Lex and his family, but I would like to be educated prior to the trip~ :ballet:

woah!!!!!! keren nenek!

Jakarta is not good tourist stuff, but it's cheap shopping for your money. Mangga Dua, Pasar Baru, Cempaka Mas and lots of malls over there. If you keep going there you'll be sick of shopping and clothes... well, I do.. he,he,he...

Plenty of nice place to eat too in Jakarta... and cheap he,he,he... ah, be ready for stomach ache since it's common for ppl that staying overseas for a long time to catch this. But for me, it's worth it cause nothing beat the taste he,he,he,he.....

Never been to Bali, but I heard, it was great too.

West Sumatra? hm... not sure either... which part.. since you're going to west instead of the north, than Lex definetely not a Medanise... he,he,he... j/k.

Don't bother with ur jumper or cardigan the weather are totally humid, unless u go to the mall.

Ahh... if you want to shops for films, that you can go to Glodok or Mangga Dua, but Glodok is the heaven of it. I think a piece of DVD film will be less than a dollar for you. just becareful with custom in US when you comeback with tons of it... ha,ha,ha....

I'm sure those who are still in Indo can give you better tips than me. Enjoy it Nek, and don't forgot some pics ok ;)

Welcome to Jakarta... :D

Good tourist stuff here... If you would like to go to museums, there're tons of them here, but don't compare them with American or European ones. Here, they're barely maintained. I heard Taman Mini (Miniature Park) is quite good. Haven't visited there for a long time, so I couldn't really say... :p Visit the golden triangle (Thamrin, Sudirman area) at night. Quite pretty and so different from the rest of Jakarta... :D Visit the Presidential Palace if you want to, but should check the schedule. Don't think it opens everyday.

Ummm, can't think of anything else...

As for shopping, if you want to buy clothes, shoes, fake branded-bags and accessories, visit ITC Mangga Dua or Pasar Pagi Mangga Dua. But be prepared to bargain. It would be better if local person is the one who bargained, since the price could drop lower. For VCD or DVD, Mangga Dua Mall has quite a lot of them, but the price is a bit higher than those in Glodok. But I prefer Mangga Dua Mall for DVD, since the price is almost the same and it's air conditioned... :D For serial VCD, Glodok is the place.

For food, tons and tons of great place to eat... from cheap stuff to cuisine ones. I think Lex's family must have known where the good places are, since Jakarta people loved to eat out... :D

Night life in Jakarta is quite abundant. There're many lounges, clubs, etc.

If you're going to visit Bali, be sure to get a hotel near Kuta. That's the hip place. Other places' scenery are as good, but not as convenient. The wel known places there are the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (or something like that), Uluwatu, Tanah Lot, Kintamani and Besakih, among others. Be sure to bargain (cut the price in half at least) when you shop at street vendors. The price would be a whole lot better if Indonesian speaking person who bargained... :p As for food, be sure to visit Jimbaran area for the fresh seafood and Bebek Bengil in Ubud.
What to do in Bali... you could get your hair braided and your nail painted at Kuta Beach for like two three bucks... :D Lots of excellent spas in Bali. The one in Ritz Carlton is very good, although it is quite pricey.

Anyway, hope you enjoy your vacation... :D

if you want eat chinese food, i recommended you to go to jalan pecenongan. you have a lot of choice in there, but i think the price is expensive. if you want more cheap i recommended you jalan pangeran jayarta in panca warna area. in there you can eat chinese food too, but with lower price. you can eat nasi campur, bakso (meat ball) afung, bakmi kepiting (crab noodle), etc. yaou can buy chinese cake too, don't forget to buy tart susu cake, emmmm a deliocus cake.

if you like animal, you can go to ragunan zoo. in there you can see gorilla in they new cage.

Hi Nenek!
Good to know that you're going to Indonesia. Are you looking forward to it?:)

I don't know what you expect from Jakarta, but do check the pubs or bars and cafes in Jakarta. It will give you a different perspective of Jakarta . Embassy is a popular club to hang out, but if you prefer somewhere to sit back and enjoy live music, I'll recommend Burgundy at Hyatt's or Bats at Shangrila. Don't bother going to Hard rock cafe, Planet hollywood. The Cafes in Kemang area are good places to visit too, though they are not as popular as they used to be. And don't forget the malls. I know they are just mall, but they are pretty much a lifestyle in Jakarta:) Don't forget the food, nenek!!! I encourage you just to try everything and eat eat eat:)) Noodles, Satay, Indonesian fried rice are a must!

I hope you get to see Bali. If you like clubbing, the place to go is 66 or double six, at Seminyak. Don't go to Kamasutra, I don't understand why it's so popular. It's dodgy, dodgy and dodgy, although I have to admit that they do good cocktails. There are plenty of pubs and bars at Dianapura, but I think Liquid is the best one.
Must visit Kudeta, the food is expensive, so just go for drinks. You'll love the ambience, and it's really romantic. For food try Bebek Bengil, Warung Made, Rumours, Warung Batavia and Wardani.

Make sure you go to Ubud too, see the rice terrace and the market. Plenty of temples to visit and monkey forest too. If you feel adventorous, try rafting. It's fun.
And go to the beach, nenek. Do go to the beach and some boogie-boarding, get a nice tan and check out the surfers!!! :)
