Synopsis: [Spoiler Warning]

Kai is a last year student in university majoring social psychology. He’s got a beautiful older girl friend name Maho. Kai also best friend with Shohei and Keita in the uni. One day he met Sae, a girl with hearing and speech impairment but play a beautiful violin. On another occasion, Shohei meet Sae and arrange a blind date for her with Keita. But when Keita found out she’s disable, he back off from the date and Kai was replacing him. Kai went without realise that it was Sae that he supposed to meet. When they just met he didn’t know Sae was disable, he just thought Sae was rude for ignoring him. As part of his major, Kai was able to use sign language with Sae during their incidental date.

Mahe was assigned to help Sae, as she is helper for students that have hearing and speech impairment. But Sae was a difficult and crude girl, in the end Kai end up helping Mahe. However Sae start to develop feeling to Kai, knowing he’s actually already has a girlfriend. In the mean time Mahe lost confidence to Kai, especially when Kai turn down a very prospective job, but Kai himself doesn’t really like that job. He want to be a physical therapist. Mahe start to questioning what is she means to Kai. Mahe turn to her old friend Sano (this is a nice sweet surprise for me, it was Takeshi Kashibawara that played! Yayy!!!! ) but one way leading to another, Maho decide to break up and seeing Sano.

Kai was dejected at first because he thought he wasn’t doing enough to be a better man for Maho, but Maho later explained, she keep putting up with him because she keep remember that she’s older than him and has to act mature. With Sano, she can be herself.

Kai relationship and Sae develop, and with together with Shohei, Keita and Akane (Akane is Sae bestfriend from school) they form Orange No Kai or Orange Society. Little by little Shohei and Keita learn sign language so they can also talk with Sae. Keita and Akane even translating a song to a sign language so Sae can also sing along together.

The friendship was beautiful and they were supporting each other when they can. Later on Sae’s hearing getting worse and her mom decide to move to German and had an operation there. Sae also meet her childhood friend that already become a well known pianist in German.

Does Sae and Kai has a future together?

Review:
This is another neat project of japanese drama that I watch. To be honest topics around uni student doesn’t really appeal me, maybe because I’m over it :p but their friendship is really beautiful. What also interesting is the feeling that Sae has as a disable girl, and what makes her bitter. But this story not just talking from one side, it also show Kai’s feeling to her. He even said to Sae ‘I don’t always do things the way you want me to, Sae! I’m not a robot! You’re an adult now too, so you need to take responsibility for what you say and the decisions you make.’ Kai was actually not sure whether he can make Sae happy. It was amazing how the story show both side of coins. Not just from the disable person side, but also for the normal person side.

I also enjoy the sign language that shows on the series. They really serious with making this series. I imagine all actors and actresses need to have a fluent sign language. I pick up some of the sign here and there :p like ‘Daijobu – are you ok?’ ‘Gomen – Sorry’ ‘Baka – idiot’ etc.

Overall it was fun watching it!

PS. Sorry no picture, is hard to get... :pinch:
