Based on: The illustrated novel by Jimmy Liao
Cast: Takeshi Kaneshiro, Gigi Leung Wing-Kei, Edmund Chen, Terri Kwan
Running time: 96 minutes
Synopsis:
This is a story about the fate of a couple who yearned for that one magical encounter. John Liu (Takeshi Kaneshiro) was a violinist whose dream was to join a worldwide orchestra. Eve Choi (Gigi Leung) was a translator whose passion was poems but was stuck to translating trashy novels and cheap thrillers. They lived next to each other in the same apartment building, with only a thin wall separating them. They were often in the same place at the same time, and yet their paths never really crossed.
Until one day.
While having lunch, they bumped into each other. And they hit it off right away, ended up spending a wonderful afternoon together. When the afternoon was cut short, before they went their own way, they exchanged phone numbers. But fate once again interfered. A sudden shower made the numbers on the paper badly smudged... and the path of guessing those numbers led them to the paths of another girl and guy...
Opinion:
The movie's all right. Not as good as I expected from a Johnnie To's movie though. The performances of the actors and actress were good, but the characters soon turned from amusing to silly. The only saving grace of this movie is the soundtrack. It's very good, complementing, enhancing the mood of the movie perfectly.
