I vaguly remember someone saying Indonesian can guess English when the vice versa is difficult. So, there is a similarity between Bahasa and English?? |

For some words, yes. Like pensil=pencil, buku=book, apel=apple dan=and, polisi=police, kopi=coffee, etc etc But I think Indonesian & English are different. |

Oops I said that. I didn't mean the words are the same or similar. I meant English is so prevalent and widely known, that chances are higher for indo to understand english than the other way around. For example if someone says: 'I want to go to cinema/theatre', most indo can guess or even understand. But say 'Saya mau nonton' then non-indo speaker would have a problem. Especially for technical, computer, and internet terms. |
