If you like to eat Sushi, here's some reference to identify what you eat and also to be able to order them in Japanese. It will be great next time you go to a sushi place and seat right on the sushi bar.

Akagai - ark shell
Aji - horse mackerel

Ama-Ebi - raw shrimp
Anago - conger eel

Aoyagi - round clam
Asari - short-necked clam

Awabi - abalone
Ayu - sweetfish

Buri - adult yellowtail
Chuutoro - semi fatty tuna

Ebi - boiled shrimp
Fugu - fugu fish

Gari - vinegrated ginger
Geso - squid's legs

Hamachi - yellowtail
Hamaguri - clams

Hamo - sea eel
Hatahata - sand fish

Hirame - flounder
Hotategai - scallop

Ika - squid
Ikura - salmon roe

Inada - very young yellowtail
Kaibashira - eye of scallop

Kajiki - swordfish
Kani - crab

Kanpachi - young yellow tail
Karei - flatfish

Katsuo - bonito
Kazonoko - herring roe

Kahoda - gizzard shad
Kuruma ebi - prawn

Maguro - tuna
Makajiki - blue marlin

Masu - trout
Maguro - young tuna

Otoro - fatty tuna

Saba - mackarel
Sake - salmon

Sawara - spanish mackarel
Sayori - half beak

Seigo - young seabass
Shako - mantis shrimp

Shiromi - white fish
Suzuki - sea bass

Tai - sea bream
Tairagai - razor-shell clam

Tako - octopus
Tamago - sweeten omelet

Torigai - cockle
Toro - tuna belly

Tsubugai - tsubugai shellfish
Uni - sea urchin roe

Wasabi - japanese horseradish

There are about 400-500 different types of neta (topping) for sushi.

I'll try to remember more, find more info or ask my Japanese friends :)

sushi aku cuma suka makan seafood2nya aja. ngga suka kalo yg ada nasinya :D hehe.. apalagi yg ada wasabinya.. .eeeekkkk..
me paling suka makanan jepang so far: unagi :drool:

favorite gua mah tempura ura maki yg di sushi sei... scallop pake mayo juga enak bangetttt di sono... :drool: ama toro di shima... :wub:

It really depends on what you like. Do you like maki or nigiri type ? Are you adventurous ? Do you want to spend a lot, since the more exotic the toppings are, the more expensive and hard to swallow it becomes. ;)
