HALOOOO... fellow members! Azzy's smart young brain suggest me to open up "Nenek Korean Language series" here.

I would love to help you on Korea and Korean language. I have couple of wonderful members from SPC who had learned Korean culture and language through emails and pms.. and I have helped numbers of business translation in my real life. And I am translating novels as well! Ok.. smarty Yonny will keep mouth shut about her back ground.

Just ask me about Korean.

Ahn Nyong Ha Se Yo!! -- Hello! in very polite term.

Jal Ga! - Good Bye!
Or.. Ahn Nyong could be said as well for good bye.

so many words to say Hello?? so what's 'hello' to your friends?
You got your first student here, Yon. :D
Update please.. student want moreeee.. :D

Nenek 4 Mei 2004 jam 5:24am

My first student!

Student = Hak Saeng
Friend = Chin Goo

When you call someone(who is your friend. Don't use this to older people or in business circumstances. :abduct: ) You use word "Ya"

So, when you call friend, "Chin Goo Ya!"
When you meet friend, "Chin Goo Ya, Ahn Nyong?"

:aha:

Oo, forgot to add, this calling auxiliary word "Ya" is a particle. But weirdly enough it only works with the words end with vowel sound.

Hmm.. is the pronounciation like the way English does?
Say "Chin Goo" -> do we say "goo" like in
1. "good"
2. "go" but prolong it
Like Chinese, does the Korean have the standardised "pinyin"?

My dear eeyore!! :bump:

Thank you in formal way will be "Kam Sah Ham Ni Da"
Informal "Ko Ma Wo"

The first one, you can use it to strangers, elders, business occasion.. whatever.
Second one is more like among the friends, or to younger sisters or brothers.

Very Nice .. we have too many words to say that.
When you say "Joh Ta" it could refer to rather amstract things.. like ideas or feelings, but "Muht Yit Ta" could be also very nice when you say something like fancy cars or clothes.

Yes. Mr. Temu answered it correctly. The "Goo" sounds as in "Good"

We don't have pin yin because Korean doesn't have this accent to distiguish the meaning like Chinese does.

There are some words hard to pronouce. But based on my personal experience with Indo friends.. *cough cough my dear darling Lex .. cough cough* very very fluent about pronoucing the sounds.

Few Correction in Mr. Temu's wonderful examples.

Mi Ahn Ham Ni Da will be correct. Among the friends, you don't want to be so polite. You can just say "Mi Ahn" will be good enough to say sorry.

Chu Se Yo is a common term as "Give me" but I have seen too many forieners use this because of some guide book came up with. In my discussion with linguist from Scottland, He indicated Chu Se Yo rather should be sounded as in "Ju Se Yo" rather than "Chu Se Yo" Be cause the word 주 sounds rather J sound (as in Journal) than Ch (as in Chewing)

Mohl Lah Yo meaning I don't know. Some reason this Mohl Lah Yo seems very feminine. Often guys use term "Mohl Rue Get Nuen Dae Yo" more than "Mohl La Yo" Unless he cuddles with his gf..

Cho Ah Hey Yo meaning I like. So.. you can say Maek Chu Cho Ah Hey Yo.. meaning "I love Beer!"

And dear k4ng4r00

I would be happy to translat for you, but I would like to do it in my forum.
Once the traslation is done, I will post in yonyon forum. Should be done shortly.

Nenek, when I asked what's korean for 'very nice', it's because my regular hairdresser is korean salon, so I want to say 'very nice' as for what they do to my hair. :D and it's always nice he,he,he...

ooo... in that case! "Nuh Moo Jal Ha Shut Nae Yo." It means "It is very well done."
Also, you could said "Yeh Puh Yo" Means "Pretty! Looks nice!"
