Nice article regarding the OST of this movie This soundtrack for the musical “Perhaps Love†features songs sung by Hong Kong singer Jacky Cheung, Japanese-Taiwanese Kaneshiro Takeshi, Mainland Chinese actress Zhou Xun and Korean actor Ji Jin Hee. The sequence of the songs in the soundtrack follows the sequence of the songs introduced in the movie. “人生蒙太奇 Ren Sheng Meng Tai Qi†by Ji Jin Hee is the opening song in the album as well as in the movie. It’s a challenge for Ji Jin Hee to speak Chinese in the movie. It’s even a greater challenge for him to sing Chinese. Then there’s the duet â€œå¿˜äº†æˆ‘æ˜¯è° Wang Le Wo Shi Shui†by Takeshi and Zhou Xun. Lin Jian Dong, starred by Takeshi in the movie met his first love, Sun Na, who is starred by Zhou Xun. However, the girl pretended that she has forgotten her past completely. The duet between them is a moving yet heart-wrenching one. The other duet by Takeshi and Zhou Xun “åå—街头 Shi Ji Jie Tou†gives a broadway feel, typical in musicals. Jacky Cheung, probably the greatest HK singer in the 80s and 90s sings up to 3 solos and a duet in the album. â€œä½ æ˜¯çˆ±æˆ‘çš„ Ni Shi Ai Wo De†comes about when Zhou Xun’s current boyfriend in the movie, starred by Jacky Cheung saw her and Lin Jian Dong being together. The song, which goes from deep grief to an intense anger is perfectly rendered. Jacky, however takes a style to bring out the title song “如果爱 Ru Guo Ai (Perhaps Love)â€. Contrary to the emotional rendition of “Ni Shi Ai Wo Deâ€, “Perhaps Love†is smooth, serene and relaxing. Zhou Xun, albeit more active in movies, has released 2 albums before. In the soundtrack, she sings one solo and 2 duets. Her â€œå¤–é¢ Wai Mian†has a gentle and soothing feel. The duet between Jacky and Ji Jin Hee “命è¿æ›² Ming Yun Qu†is another decent song with interesting counter melody between both of them. Except for Jacky Cheung, the other 3 singers are more of actors and actress than singers. However, their singing in the movie is commendable. The soundtrack is a great collection for musical lovers and a must-have album for “Perhaps Love†movie fans. |
