REMEMBER!!!....it is not an advise from medical professionals!

Mudah2 an ini bisa bantu.... ...soalnya kan di Indo banyak sun exposure nya.....tp untung nya...org2 Asia....dark skinned....jadi risk nya lower......

SUN EXPOSURE and SKIN CANCER

How does the sun change my skin?

Exposure to the sun causes:

Pre-cancerous (actinic keratosis) and cancerous (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma) skin lesions - caused by loss of the skin's immune function
Benign tumors
Fine and coarse wrinkles
Freckles
Discolored areas of the skin, called mottled pigmentation;
Sallowness -- a yellow discoloration of the skin;
Telangiectasias -- the dilation of small blood vessels under the skin;
Elastosis -- the destruction of the elastic tissue causing lines and wrinkles.

What causes skin cancer?

Skin cancer is the most prevalent form of all cancers in the U.S. and the number of cases continues to rise. It is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. This rapid growth results in tumors, which are either benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous).

There are three main types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal cell and squamous cell cancers are less serious types and make up 95% of all skin cancers. Also referred to as non-melanoma skin cancers, they are highly curable when treated early. Melanoma, made up of abnormal skin pigment cells called melanocytes, is the most serious form of skin cancer and causes 75% of all skin cancer deaths. Left untreated, it can spread to other organs and is difficult to control.

Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun is the number one cause of skin cancer, but UV light from tanning beds is just as harmful. Exposure to sunlight during the winter months puts you at the same risk as exposure during the summertime.

Cumulative sun exposure causes mainly basal cell and squamous cell skin cancer, while episodes of severe sunburns, usually before age 18, can cause melanoma later in life. Other less common causes are repeated X-ray exposure, scars from burns or disease and occupational exposure to certain chemicals.

Who is at risk for skin cancer?

Although anyone can get skin cancer, the risk is greatest for people who have fair or freckled skin that burns easily, light eyes and blond or red hair. Darker skinned individuals are also susceptible to all types of skin cancer, although their risk is substantially lower.

Aside from complexion, other risk factors include having a family history or personal history of skin cancer, having an outdoor job and living in a sunny climate. A history of severe sunburns and an abundance of large and irregularly-shaped moles are risk factors unique to melanoma

How can I help prevent skin cancer?

Nothing can completely undo sun damage, although the skin can sometimes repair itself. So, it's never too late to begin protecting yourself from the sun. Your skin does change with age -- for example, you sweat less and your skin can take longer to heal, but you can delay these changes by staying out of the sun.

Follow these tips to help prevent skin cancer:

--Apply sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of 15 or greater 30 minutes before sun exposure and
then every few hours thereafter.
--Select cosmetic products and contact lenses that offer UV protection.
--Wear sunglasses with total UV protection.
--Avoid direct sun exposure as much as possible during peak UV radiation hours between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
--Perform skin self-exams regularly to become familiar with existing growths and to notice any changes or new growths.

Now...around 700 people have been put under medical observation in Beijing, with hundreds more isolated in Anhui.

.....there are some common-sense precautions that you can take that apply to many infectious diseases. The most important is frequent hand washing with soap and water or use of an alcohol-based hand rub. You should also avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unclean hands and encourage people around you to cover their nose and mouth with a tissue when coughing or sneezing..........

Kita selalu dengar org2 nyuruh olah raga supaya sehat.....:)

Another guideline.. ada bilang 30 menit /hari dgn aerobic exercises.

Kayanya tergantung pd banyak factors.....musti individualized!

:aha: kalo gini saya exercise nya cukup gak yah?.....:p

Sekarang disini lagi musim semi jadi banyak yg kena HAYFEVER ato ALLERGIC RHINITIS ...sorry bhs Indo nya gak yakin (ada yg tahu?) ...:(

Saya juga kadang2 dapet symptoms ginian.....:((
Biasanya symptoms2 nya bisa: sneezing, nasal itching, runny nose, congestion, headache, impaired smell, and conjunctival symptoms.
Kenapa yah kita bisa kena hayfever....
The allergic inflammatory response is a complex interaction of many different inflammatory cells resulting in the release of chemical mediators that, upon interaction with their end-organ receptors, results in various clinical manifestations.
Kalo dpt hayfever ...paling gampang kalo bisa avoid allergen nya. Kalo gak ada penyebab -> gak ada symptoms...hehehe...:p
Many allergens can be avoided, such as house dust mites, pets, mold, and occupational agents. Of course, total allergen avoidance is often impractical or impossible to implement, but many simple changes can be made in homes to reduce allergen exposure. Pollen avoidance is usually low yield, but may be effective and should therefore be considered. Avoiding outdoor activities during the high-pollen season or when pollen counts are highest -- usually between the hours of 5 AM and 10 AM.

yep yep.. me hay fever sufferer for the last 5 years

Avoid outdoor activities during summer is simply just out of the question :D When the weather is nice outside, do I really want to be stuck inside? NO!

I usually carry my nasal spray around (Rhinocort / Beconase). Musti rajin spraynya.. Kalo udah jamnya di spray tapi lupa.. waaa.. langsung deh.. mata gatel2.. idung gatel2.. bersin2.. mata becomes so puffy.. feeling soooo miserable :(
With the spray the symptoms seems to reduce, still feel the itchiness but it's bearable.

Pake sunglasses jg help a bit. During the high pollen season, I don't even have to look at the pollen forecast. I can feel it with my nose :D During which times I always want to have a mask around my mouth and nose, and wearing swimming goggles :D

I am not sure which pollen I'm allergic to, but I'll be suffering the whole summer season so there's no point knowing :D

Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose - combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy. Research has proved that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.

But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.

Depression:
According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

PMS:
Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.

Anemia:
High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure:
This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power:
200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation:
High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Hangovers:
One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and re-hydrates your system.

Heartburn
Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness:
Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

Mosquito bites:
Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin.. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.

Nerves:
Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.

Overweight and at work?
Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.

Ulcers:
The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.

Temperature control:
Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand, for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD):
Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer, tryptophan.

Smoking:
Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.

Stress:
Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be re-balanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.

Strokes:
According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine",
eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by
strokes by as much as 40%"

Warts:
Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
So, you see, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around. So what are you waiting for? go munch a banana!!

Constipation -> My experience with banana: more bananas, more constipation! (banana has lots of fibres, hence more constipation, I think).

About morning sickness.. ahem.. :D Tempting... If it's indeed true, then I'll get constipation instead of nausea.. hmm..

Tapi mungkin banyak
diantara anda tidak mengetahui bahwa pete
mengandung 3 macam gula alami yaitu sukrosa,
fruktosa dan glukosa yang dikombinasikan dengan
serat.

Kombinasi kandungan ini mampu memberikan
dorongan tenaga yang instan, namun cukup lama
dan cukup besar efeknya. Riset membuktikan dua

buruk. Ini membuat pete menjadi salah satu
makanan penting dalam makanan keseharian kita.

Depresi

Menurut survei yang dilakukan oleh MIND diantara
pasien penderita depresi, banyak orang merasa
lebih baik setelah makan pete. Hal ini terjadi
karena pete mengandung tryptophan, sejenis
protein yang diubah tubuh menjadi serotonin. Inilah
yang akan membuat relax, memperbaiki mood dan
secara umum membuat seseorang lebih bahagia.

PMS (premenstrual syndrome)

membantu mood.

Anemia

Dengan kandungan zat besi yang tinggi, pete
dapat menstimulasi produksi sel darah merah dan
membantu apabila terjadi anemia.

Tekanan darah tinggi

Buah tropis unik ini sangat tinggi kalium, tetapi
rendah garam, sehingga sangat sempurna untuk
memerangi tekanan darah. Begitu tingginya,
sehingga FDA Amerika mengizinkan perkebunan
pete untuk melakukan klaim resmi mengenai
kemampuan buah ini untuk menurunkan resiko
tekanan darah dan stroke.

Kemampuan otak

makan siang. Riset telah membuktikan bahwa
buah dengan kandungan kalium tinggi dapat
membantu belajar dengan membantu siswa
semakin waspada.

Sembelit

Karena kandungan serat yang tinggi, maka pete
akan mempermudah menormalkan kembali aksi
pencernaan, membantu mengatasi permasalahan
ini tanpa harus kembali ke laksativ.

Obat mabuk

Salah satu cara paling cepat untuk
menyembuhkan "penyakit" mabuk adalah
milkshake pete, yang dimaniskan dengan madu.
Pete akan membantu menenangkan perut dan
dengan bantuan madu akan meningkatkan kadar
gula darah yang jatuh, sedangkan susu akan
menenangkan dan kembali memperbaiki kadar
cairan dalam tubuh.

Kekenyangan

Pete memiliki efek antasid pada tubuh, sehingga
bila dada anda terasa panas akibat kebanyakan
makan, cobalah makan pete untuk mengurangi
sakitnya.

Mual di pagi hari

Makan pete diantara jam makan akan menolong
mempertahankan kadar gula dan menghindari
muntah.

Gigitan nyamuk

Sebelum anda meraih krim gigitan nyamuk, coba
untuk menggosok daerah yang terkena gigitan
dengan bagian dalam kulit pete. Banyak orang
berhasil mengatasi rasa gatal dan bengkak dengan
cara ini.

Untuk saraf

Pete mengandung vitamin V dalam jumlah besar,
sehingga akan membantu menenangkan sistem
saraf.

Kegemukan

Penelitian di Institute of Psychology Austria
menemukan bahwa tekanan pada saat kerja
menyebabkan orang sering meraih makanan yang
menenangkan seperti coklat dan keripik. Dengan
melihat kepada 5.000 pasien di rumah sakit,
peneliti menemukan bahwa kebanyakan orang
mejadi gemuk karena tekanan kerja yang tinggi.

Laporan menyimpulkan bahwa, untuk menghindari
nafsu memakan makanan karena panik, kita butuh
mengendalikan kadar gula dalam darah dengan
ngemil makanan tinggi karbohidrat setiap dua jam
untuk mempertahankan kadarnya tetap.

Luka lambung

Pete digunakan sebagai makanan untuk merawat
pencernaan karena texturnya yang lembut dan
halus. Buah ini adalah satu-satunya buah mentah
yang dapat dimakan tanpa menyebabkan stress
dalam beberapa kasus yang parah. Buah ini juga
mampu menetralkan asam lambung dan
mengurangi iritasi dengan melapisi permukaan
dalam lambung.

Mengatur suhu tubuh

Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) (penyakit
emosional yang kacau)

Pete dapat membantu penderitas SAD kerena
mengandung pendorong mood alami, tryptophan.

Merokok

Pete dapat menolong orang yang ingin berhenti
merokok. Vitamin B6 dan B12 yang dikandungnya,
bersama dengan kalium dan magnesium,
membantu tubuh cepat sembuh dari efek
penghentian nikotin

Stress

Kalium adalah mineral penting, yang membantu
untuk menormalkan detak jantung, mengirim
oksigen ke otak dan mengatur keseimbangan
cairan tubuh. Ketika kita stress, kecepatan
metabolisme kita akan meningkat, sehingga akan
mengurangi kadar kalium dalam tubuh. Hal ini
dapat diseimbangkan lagi dengan bantuan makan
petai yang tinggi kalium.

Stroke

Menurut riset dalam "The New England Journal of
Medicine," makan pete sebagai bagian dari
makanan sehari-hari akan menurunkan resiko
kematian karena stroke sampai 40%.

Caplak

Mereka yang suka berpaling pada pengobatan
alami akan berani bersumpah, jika anda ingin
mematikan caplak, maka ambil sepotong pete,
dan letakkan di caplak itu. Tetap pertahankan pete
itu dengan menggunakan plester!

Setelah membaca semua fakta diatas maka anda
berbagai macam penyakit. Jika anda
membandingkannya dengan apel, pete memiliki
protein 4 kali lebih banyak, karbohidrat dua kali
lebih banyak, tiga kali lipat fosfor, lima kali lipat
Vitamin A dan zat besi, dan dua kali lipat jumlah
vitamin dan mineral lainnya.

Pete juga kaya kalium dan merupakan buah
dengan nilai makanan terbaik. Jadi mungkin
sekaranglah saatnya anda mengubah kata-kata
Petai a day keeps the doctor away" (makan pete
tiap hari akan menjauhkan anda dari dokter).
(mydoc/gavindo)

 khasiat sih khasiat! tapi kayaknya not me for me lah itu petai :D
