Sorry, didn't work out for you. It is bit an American way I suppose, small town (where everybody know everybody), roadtrip.
Some points of the movie that I gathered:
Failure is not the end of the world.
You could find love in the strangest place/circumstance, if that happen just hold on to it.
Stop and smell the rose, don't just work work work, have fun, spend time with your spouse, kids, parents.
