can't help imagining vicki zhao for Yi Ping's character, vicki's portrayal of the character is Yi Ping through and through.

Shu Huan - After reading only half the book, I think Leo Ku did poorly. Kurang expresi n kurang bersemangat. and supposed to be tall and strong.. do you think Leo is tall and strong? no.

Ru Ping - karena tokohnya beda dengan di buku, jadi ngga bayangin ruby sama sekali. walaupun ruby ga gitu cantik tapi too energetic for this character. need someone helpless and pathetic. still can't figure out who's suitable to play ru ping. any idea?

Lu Chen Hua (Yi Ping's father) - wah, oom yg di serialnya vicki itu cocok banget meranin tokoh ini. handsome, gagah, karismatik, and suaranya omg.. commanding and sexy at the same time

Ehr Chieh (the little one) supposed to be skinny? Yg di series menurutku lebih pantes. Di mana2 kalo anak co bratty dimanja pasti gemuk. masa bisa sih skinny? org makan terus gt..

yg laen characternya masi cenderung kebayang yg di serial.

hm...kalo soal karakter series dan buku sihhh ikutan komen yah

vicky zhao emang cocok banget peranin yi ping, sifat keras kepalanya yi ping bisa dia tampilan hanya dengan ekspresi mukanya itu makanya cocok banget dehhh

kalo shu huan itu yang kebayang kok malah bukan leo ku yah malah yang kebayang itu chin han lhooo...chin han itu cocok deh kalo menurut me sebagai shu huan, gak terlalu cakep yang semakin lama dilihat bisa semakin menarik dan semakin mengenal orangnya kalo leo ku mah kalah jauhhh oiiii...

ru ping, ai yaaa...ruby mah jauh banget dari dia tapi kalo di series kan emang diceritakan rubynya beda yah maklum aja deh tapi kalo bener2 adaptasi dari buku sih jauhhhh booo...hmmm...sapa yah yang cocok untuk peranin ru ping

lu chen hua wahhhh idem dengan momon deh...kalo untuk yang ini sih udah cocok tuh, wibawanya dan kegarangannya bener2 mantap boooo...

fang yu, gak bisa deh kebayang yang di series, soalnya yang di series terlalu tegar juga, padahal aslinya menurut buku kan fang yu itu desperate bangettttt

er hao kok kesannya yang di series gak cocok juga yah, mustinya kan er hao itu terhadap yi ping itu jahat juga agak2 sinis gitu

more detail about the book:
(the one i read is the english translation).

still half way through the book, but already admiring the way the author was able to dig deep each character and each emotion.

editing was poor - still found mistakes. also inconsistency between british english and american english spellings. it uses 'realize' and 'organize' but uses 'colour', 'parlour'.

i don't know if this is due to the fact that the book was written in chinese, but even after the time that Yi Ping had already realised she's in love with Shu Huan, she still used "Ho Shu Huan", not "Shu Huan". is this to indicate that she doesn't want to be too attached to Ho Shu Huan, or just the way Chinese literatures are written?

kayaknya gak deh mon, kalo yang versi indo tuh awalnya yi ping malah panggilnya tuan he tapi belakangan jadi shu huan kok

Vicki Zhao emang bagus banget jadi Yi Ping... dulu Liu Xue Hua juga bagus, tapi lebih diem and kurang keliatan keras-nya... Zhao Wei's Yi Ping lebih keliatan galaknya, kerasnya, kepala batunya, IMO... lebih persis kaya di buku...

Kalo Shu Huan mah jangan dibilang deh... gua benci banget liat actingnya Leo Koo di sono... itu ekspresi muka cuma ada 3 biji doang. Even dia pas mohon2 dgn tampang minta dikasihanin gitu pengen gua tendang rasanya... Jauhhhhhh ama Chin Han mah... padahal character di buku SHu Huan agak complex gitu, tapi ama si LK bisa dijadiin kaya simpleton gitu...

Ru Ping gua prefer di buku deh... di pilem punya terlalu goody-two-shoes... and Ruby mainnya ga gitu bagus. Her heart is not in it, gitu... mending liat dia di HZGG....

Character DU Fei emang ga ada di buku. QIong Yao bilang dia sengaja masukin character ini biar pilemnya beda ama versi sebelonnya. And kayaya dia usahain bikin endingnya tuh happy end for almost all parties, gitu...

Lu Shen Hua juga keren banget, both di buku and di film dua2nya bagus... seneng pas nonton filmnya, bapanya came out so charismatic. Kasian pas baca bukunya... tapi bener2 character yg oke banget...

Yg lain2 mah ga terlalu berkesan ama gua... both di pilem atau di buku... Er Hao, ER Jie dll di pilem actingnya kurang oke, di buku juga kurang dimensional.

Overall sih, gua prefer endingnya buku sih... ending pilemnya terlalu maksa... apalagi itu yg di stasiun kereta itu... acting terharunya Leo Kee kaga kena... Kalo gua disuruh bikin ending, gua bakal jadiin Yi Ping ama Du Fei (as long as yg peranin tetep Zhao Wei ama Alec Su... ) *padahal gua nonton ini duluan luh sebelon nonton HZGG... kebayang kalo gua nonton HZGG duluan.... *

iya chin han biar cm liat seri 1 dan 2 pas YYMM yg lama aku lebih suka dia drpd LK.. klu YP nya LSH sih mungkin bisa kalahin VZ, tp emg VZ lebih cantik, cm mungkin krn jutek dan galak yah dibanding LSH? ... kok jadi bandingin bintang bukan cerita

btw.. ini komen aja.. tiap kali ke rumah Lu, koq nemuin Papanya lagi 'smoking his pipe' mulu yah? ga ada kegiatan laen.. oh kecuali sekali. pas si YP trus stormed out keluar lagi liat SH & RP di kamar itu, papinya ama ehr chieh lagi bikin something with rubbers and bamboo... not piping

kalo soal ending cerita sih lebih bagus yang di buku daripada di series, lebih realistic gitu lhooo...dan me lebih suka ending yang di buku dehhh kalo di series kan emang dari awalnya udah dibilang sama QY kalo dia mo bikin yang happy end, oh ya kalo YYMM itu endingnya sama kok sama yang di buku

soal du fei itu karakter tambahan di QSSYMM karena emang QY dari awal udah niat mo bikin happy end jadi dimasukkin sebagai karakter tambahan gitu, jadi melenceng dari buku deh

soal Leo Koo emang gak berbakat akting kali, aktingnya di film or seri manapun kurang menggigit gitu lhooo apalagi pas HZGG 3 itu alamakkkk...kebayang gak sih YQ yang diperanin alec su jadi begitu di tangannya dia welehhhh

anyway, cath...kalo udah nonton HZGG duluan mungkin lebih ngebet lagi liat kalo shu huannya itu alec dibandingkan leo, soalnya me yang nonton HZGG duluan aja jadi gregetan gitu...but as long as dufei yang diperanin alec su gak mengecewakan mah tetap aja betah nonton apalagi kayaknya cuman di series ini aja yang peran alec su rada2 kocak

Wahhhh, HZGG 3 mah gua males aja gitu castnya pada diganti... eh, ceritanya amit2 lagi... udah deh, beneran kaga gua tonton. And kayanya ga rugi ga nonton, soalnya yg nonton pada bilang jelek... Itu TV bisa gua sambit kali liat my YQ jadi kaya gitu...

YYMM gua agak2 lupa inget ceritanya... cuma impression doang yg masih kesisa. Inget dulu satu rumah cewe2nya pada bengkak matanya nontonin itu pilem...

QSSYMM kalo nonton dari depan ampe belakang lagi sih kaga sanggup kali... nonton ulang lagi itu juga banyak ff-nya... yg paling sering diliat mah cuma pas SHu Huan dikasih cold shoulder (or blazing shoulder yah... ) ama Yi Ping... I guess it said something about the cruelty in me or was is justified?

omg i didn't even cry when i saw the series (vicki n leo's). but i cried when i read the book (on the part where shu huan was beside yi ping's bed, confessing all the mistakes and told her how much he loved her, in a way that moved my heart!!!!!!!!).

i mean both are so unimaginably stubborn. i still don't get it why he was so upset with the diary (didn't get it when i was watching the series, and still don't get it now after i read it in the book).

rule of thumb:
1. don't read other people's diary. they're really off limits. sometimes they don't contain facts, but 'the way it should've happened', 'what i should've said', 'what i should've felt', 'words to encourage myself to be stronger'. i myself had a diary and used it as a 'trash can', and should really be put in the trash can where it belong or just be burnt away. definitely not for others to see.

2. before making decisions about hating someone and taking revenge on that person, check and recheck your mail. and email. and voice messages. oh and sms, and offline messages.

3. buy a buttonless raincoats. the slip-on one so if u forget to button it up, u won't get soaked in rain.

difference from series upto now:
1. yi ping didn't become bai mei gui. she still doesn't sing in the night club even now. so i think there's no chance of that happening?

2. yi ping didn't sing on the bridge. that was one scary scene in the series. she just came down the embankment thank god for that!

3. fang yu didn't date ehr hao. i think she never will. they don't even seem to know each other. at the beginning i thought the boy she fell in love with was ehr hao, but now i don't think so.

4. yi ping still had not reconciled with her father now. i think during the series by now she was in good terms with her father. i recalled it was after the time they rode horses together.

5. shu huan's mother played more role in the book. in the series, they were confused when shu huan was engaged with ru ping while they thought shu huan was talking about yi ping continuously before that.

6. no crazy girl in the book and her family. can't remember the name. the one who tried to commit suicide from the top of the tall building but failed. saved by shu huan and du fei, i think? probably the characters were drawn out from fang yu's family? both are poor, nice family, always helping yi ping, and somehow i think fang yu also has a tendency to commit suicide!

7. ehr hao is meaaaan in the book. mean! i don't like him.

8. i missed the du fei character. sometimes i feel it's sooooooo sad i wish it has dufei's funny character in it to cheer up the mood a little bit. i could imagine how the series could be sooooo gloomy without dufei. hooray for dufei!

9. to be honest, i still don't get why yi ping hates his father so much. okay she was thrown out, but that wasn't his fault - his mother said so too. she knew it was aunt hsueh's fault. okay she was beaten up, but that was only once, and he regrets it so much after that, the attention and love he poured over yi ping after that was beyond his ability. shouldn't really hate him that much, it hurts me everytime she gave him cold answers. not fair on him.. not fair at all.. whatever he did to his mother, shouldn't really affect her, because he could be a bad husband but a wonderful father. a person can be an ex-husband, but never be an ex-father. she's so cruel. and deserve all the punishment. i wouldn't sob in the end if she doesn't get shu huan. she deserve all of it. she doesn't deserve shu huan. shu huan.. come to mama .. lai lai..

9. all he did was beating her up. i know it sounded very terrible but back on those days it was common. not that severe but it was some kind of punishment. i'm against beating up in any sort, but hating your father to that extreme is not forgivable either.

well in the end you see what happen ... but to be that young and with so much hatred is quite acceptable, the only thing is they will regret it deeply .. it's more than beating, that's physical, but the different treatment is also counted. sama2 anak dari istri yg beda, tp perlakuannya beda banget.. ga fair gitu.
